The Wii has been very successful do to it’s wide audience, usually consisting of kids and parents. There has remained a small problem, the Wii is kind of old hardware. With the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 being powerhouses the Wii looks like a walkman. Even though the Wii doesn’t have HD it still sells like hot cakes. The motion controls on the Wii is what sets it apart from the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Sure Sony has it’s six axis controls and Microsoft with it’s Natal that’s soon to be released, but the Wii done it first. Nintendo indented for the Wii to focus more on games then graphics. But what will happen in the future? Will the Wii still be able to sell with new technologies coming out? Maybe, maybe not? No one really knows for sure, but Nintendo is smart enough to release a new console to compete with the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 graphics. With the Wii HD rumored to release in the near future, will it be able to bring new technology to the console wars? Knowing Nintendo fans they’ll buy any new Nintendo console, I know I will. Seeing Link or Mario in HD will convince new gamers to purchase a Wii. Even though a Legend of Zelda game doesn’t need to be in HD to do well and sell well, it will help a lot. Consumers will want to buy video consoles that have a lot to offer. Even though the Wii is limited in a lot of ways it still is the most popular console on the market. Why? Because anyone can play a Wii, even your grandparents. Nintendo can’t only rely on swift controls and a huge audience. Time will pass and consumers will look for the console that has newest technology. The Wii sales might be strong now, but I predict they will start to fall in the next 2 to 4 years. Can Nintendo release a new console to compete with the new era of gaming?
