BLPGAMING CHATS WITH HVS BLPGaming sat down with High Voltage Software's David Pellas to discuss The Conduit and future titles from HVS. Posted by Gamenewsnrumors on Sep 15, 2009 16:35 (175 days ago) |
So recently I have interviewed David Pellas of High Voltage Software on The Conduit as well as future HVS games. David Pellas is the Design Director of HVS, and goes by the username "DavidHVS" when playing online in The Conduit.
1) How many people have bought The Conduit as of now?
[David Pellas] I can't provide exact numbers at this time, but we are pleased with the latest reports, especially given the tough economy. We recently received a report that showed that The Conduit is the top online game on the Wii, which is very exciting. We hope to maintain this ranking and look for strong sales to continue through the quarter.
2) How long did it take to create The Conduit (When did the first idea arise?)
[David Pellas] From concept to completion, it was nearly 2 years.
3) How many people from High Voltage Software were working on The Conduit?
[David Pellas] Every person at the company worked on The Conduit or with the team at some point. However, the core development team was about 75 people.
4) How was Nintendo during all of this? Were they very cooperative, or did they give High Voltage Software a hard time over Wii Speak, and other such things?
[David Pellas] Nintendo has been an incredible partner throughout the development. We have a great relationship with them and definitely took advantage of their knowledge of the system. When it came to specific technology like Wii Speak, we worked very closely with them in order to provide the best possible implementation.
5) What were some things that you did in The Conduit that you would definitely like to keep for future titles? What were some things you guys feel as though you made a mistake on and will fix in future titles?
[David Pellas] We are particularly proud of how our customization, controls, and online multiplayer have been received and we will definitely be building on those features for any future titles.
As for what we want to improve upon in future games we feel that while fun and enjoyable, the single-player experience was not as cohesive as we wanted it to be. To remedy this we have implemented a strict series of quality checks and balances throughout the development cycle. Our goal is to help ensure that we provide gamers with a higher quality experience overall.
6) How is the hacker situation going? Are you still banning?
[David Pellas] We have been working very closely with Sega, GameSpy, Nintendo, and especially the gaming community in order to identify offenders and address them accordingly. We continue to be very active in dealing with these people.
7) And small updates in the future? Any glitch/bug fixes?
[David Pellas] It certainly isn’t out of the question. We are working with our partners in order to address some of the issues that have cropped up but given the fact that Nintendo’s online solution is different from its competitors, we have not been able to reach a satisfactory solution yet.
BLPGaming thanks David very much, for taking time to answer our questions, as he is a very busy man working on future titles for the Wii and other consoles.
